Green Valley of Russian River Valley

The coolest and foggiest corner of Russian River Valley, Green Valley was established as its own AVA in 1983 and built its reputation on Goldridge soil — a fine, sandy loam that drains fast and naturally throttles vine vigor. That combination of chill and restraint has made it prime ground for both still Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and, notably, traditional-method sparkling wine; Iron Horse's bottlings from here have been poured at the White House across several administrations. It's Russian River Valley distilled to its coolest, most mineral extreme.
