Carved out in 2011 to recognize a phenomenon most Sonoma Coast vineyards can't claim, Fort Ross-Seaview sits entirely above the marine fog layer, with a minimum elevation of 920 feet ensuring its vines see direct sun even while the valleys below sit socked in. That inversion produces long, even ripening under intense light but persistently cool temperatures — a combination that yields Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of unusual tension and precision. Perched on ridgelines within a few miles of the Pacific, it is Sonoma's clearest example of elevation, not latitude, defining terroir.
