Atlas Peak

Recognized in 1992, Atlas Peak climbs to over 2,600 feet on the Vaca Range's western slope, its alluvial and residual soils built entirely from volcanic parent material. That elevation lifts vines above the valley's fog line into cooler, more direct sun — conditions the Antinori family bet on in the 1980s when they planted Sangiovese here as a Chianti analogue, before Cabernet Sauvignon reasserted itself as the appellation's defining wine.
